Training to Impact on the region's businesses

Businesses in the North East are being urged to take advantage of £350 million being earmarked by Government to boost training and aid productivity.

10 companies in the region, including Camerons Brewery in Hartlepool and HFW Plastics in Gateshead, are currently benefiting from over £500,000 worth of training being delivered by Business Impact, a training consultancy based on the Team Valley Trading Estate.

Business Impact UK is delivering Business Improvement Techniques to over 300 staff from businesses across the North East to increase productivity, reduce waste, improve quality and maximise efficiency whilst increasing skills and knowledge.

David Amory, managing director of Business Impact UK, said: “We welcome the Government’s announcement and believe firms in the North East should be looking to secure their share of the funding being made available by seeking our advice.

“Small businesses have a huge role to play in ensuring a healthy regional economy and training staff in techniques such as Business Improvement consistently delivers significant benefits in the area of productivity. This often results in significant cost savings for small businesses as well as boosting staff morale.

“We currently have around 300 employees learning Business Improvement Techniques equating to around £500,000 training invested across these companies. We have been allocated significant funds from the Learning and Skills Council, enabling us to give 100% subsidies to these employers. I urge others to follow their example.”

Small businesses will be the focus of £350 million of Government funds to help them train their staff through the Train to Gain service.
