Superstore celebrates success with a Hug

The UK’s leading online ethical retailer, EthicalSuperstore.com, has relocated to new premises in order to support the growth of the business in the ethical marketplace.

Two years after the launch of EthicalSuperstore.com, the company has moved from a 5,000sq ft site in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley to a 25,000sq ft building in Team Valley Gateshead.

EthicalSuperstore.com has also completed the acquisition of the ethical clothing brand Hug. Hug has pioneered organic and fair-trade fashion in the UK over the last five years, producing and retailing men’s and women’s clothing and accessories.

Both developments in the business are set to bolster the company’s position amongst green consumers and will also help to create 15 more jobs within the next year.

Andy Redfern, chief executive of EthicalSuperstore.com, said: “The increasing popularity of ethical, fair-trade and eco friendly products has led to the company rapidly expanding. A move to larger premises was necessary for us to aid our future plans.

“As for the Hug acquisition, this is a great opportunity for Ethical Superstore and Hug to work hand in hand in developing a top class fashion label with ethical credentials at its very heart. We are passionate about allowing customers to buy great looking clothes and accessories which come from the most ethical sources.”

Nick Pecorelli, founder or Hug said: “I am delighted that Ethical Superstore will be taking forward the Hug brand. They are the perfect blend of ethics with an eye for great product. I have no doubt that hug.co.uk will become the number one place to find the best ethical fashion.”
