Entrepreneur walking the aisle to success

An entrepreneur in Redcar and Cleveland has been given the opportunity to make a bride’s dream come true with help from the local enterprise team.

30 year old Alma Doyle set up Eminence Bridal three months ago to provide an at-home service for brides looking to find the perfect wedding dress. Alma’s approach has already paid off, with Eminence Bridal exceeding sales targets in the first few months of trading.

Alma hit upon the idea of an at-home bridal service after experiencing first hand the difficulties encountered by people unable or unwilling to visit bridal shops due to location, work or body image issues. Eminence Bridal provides brides with a personal service to choose and order their dress from an extensive range of wedding dress suppliers.

Alma said: “I had often considered setting up on my own but it was in fact my mother who really gave me the push to make it a realistic option. When she passed away last year, I felt the time was right to take the plunge and look at how I could achieve my goal rather than focus on what barriers were in my way.”

Following some negative experiences trying to break into the established wedding fairs that are held across the region, Alma is currently organising a number of fairs in high profile locations for smaller suppliers in the wedding industry. She also recently organised a bridal wear photoshoot in the Tall Trees Hotel, inviting four trainees from local Shape Training to receive some on-the-ground experience of a full photoshoot across make-up, photography and hairdressing.

Michael Milen, Business Coordinator at Redcar and Cleveland Enterprise Team said, “Alma is a person who is very clear on her business goals and how to achieve them but most importantly, she knows and understands the marketplace she is operating in.”
