Internet shopping hits record high
Online shopping hit record levels on Monday 1 December, as industry analysts estimated that £4.6m online shopping transactions were made.
Customers spent around £300m online on Monday, with the average transaction coming in at just under £65.
Card transaction firm Retail Decisions have predicted that the busiest minute for internet shopping will be 1.21pm on December 8 - with over £980,000 being spent in this minute.
The boom in online shopping has added to the decline of high street sales, which recently showed a 3.5% fall during the last week in November compared to the same time period a year ago.
