Michelle inspires North East women

Women in the North East were inspired and entertained last week at the first ever Business Boutique event. Held at Monkton Business Park in Hebburn, guests came together to celebrate the achievements of businesswomen across the region on Women’s Enterprise Day.

The event was attended by over 130 women, who mingled with business experts, gained a valuable insight into how to develop their own business ideas and heard the stories of how three successful women made it to the top.

Guest speakers on the night included Michelle Mone, the entrepreneur who made her fortune by creating the Ultimo range of bras, and Margaret Fay, the former managing director of Tyne Tees Television and current Chair of One North East.

Margaret said: “It was great to be involved in such a positive and inspiring event which brought together women from across the region on Women’s Enterprise Day.

“The enthusiasm shown by guests on the evening was inspirational in itself and I wish them great success with their own businesses ventures in the future.”

John Scott, enterprise manager of South Tyneside Means Business, who sponsored the event, said: “The event was a great success. There was a fantastic turnout and guests went away delighted with the advice they received and the information they gained.

“Michelle Mone was an excellent speaker, her presentation was fascinating and she is a perfect role model for the women of South Tyneside.

“The feedback we have had so far has been very positive and we look forward to hearing from many of the women who attended the event to help them to develop their businesses and ideas.”
