Cream of energy industry celebrated at awards

NOF Energy has celebrated the cream of the oil, gas and energy sectors at its Annual Awards and Dinner.

Hosted by BBC Look North presenter, Wendy Gibson, the event at the Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield showcased some sectors’ many success stories and rewarded some of its leading lights.

Among the winners of the NOF Energy Awards was Wessington Cryogenics, who picked up the Company of the Year accolade and also won the International Business Category.

A special presentation was made to Dr Tony Trapp, Managing Director of IHC Engineering Business Ltd, who was given a Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Oil and Gas Industry in the North East of England.

One of the biggest rounds of applause of the night was given to 24-year-old Martin Jolliffe, also of IHC Engineering Business Limited, who was named Best Individual Newcomer to the Industry.

The Graduate Design Engineer has impressed in his year with the Northumberland-based company and was rewarded with an expenses-paid trip to the Offshore Technology Conference and Exhibition in Houston, Texas in May 2009.

George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy said: “The oil, gas and energy sectors have enjoyed a successful 2008 and our annual dinner was the perfect celebration of the innovation, dedication and business skills that exist in our industries.

“This year’s award winners are testament to leading edge businesses, quality people and products that exist in the supply chain. Both the North East and the industry can be very proud of them.”
