Last minute help from chocolate shop

Simply Chocolate, South Shields’ specialist sweet shop, will be keeping its doors open late on Thursday 18 December in a bid to help men find a Christmas present for their loved ones.

Following on from last year’s hit shopping evening the store will be open until 8pm for one night only to help husbands, dads, brothers, uncles and sons with their Christmas shopping.

Elaine Richardson, owner of Simply Chocolate, said: “Last year’s shopping evening was such a success we decided to do it again this Christmas.

“We all know that men tend to leave their Christmas shopping to the last minute so we thought we would offer a helping hand in the hope that women from across the region will wake up to something sweet and special this Christmas morning.

“We have lots of lovely gifts for sweet lovers of all ages available in store this year ranging from chocolate novelties to gingerbread houses and chocolate fountains. There is certainly something for everyone.”

Based at the Nook in South Shields, Simply Chocolate is a traditional sweet shop stocking all the old fashioned favourites to “special occasion” chocolates, it specialises in chocolate fountain hire, champagne fountain hire and wedding favours.

Elaine has also joined forces with local ice-cream company Toney Minchella Ltd to sell ice cream. Elaine said: “I had to sell this particular ice-cream as it fits in with our ethos and what we sell in the shop. Minchella’s ice cream has been a traditional favourite in this town for many years and it proves its popularity time and time again.”

Elaine Richardson launched Simply Chocolate from home in 2006 initially providing chocolate fountains for weddings, parties and other functions. The business became so successful she needed retail premises and started her first shop in Whitburn Village, relocating to the Nook in July this year.
