Start-up is nuts about jobs

A new recruitment solution from the North East is hoping to take the market by storm. Kocanuts.com is the brainchild of two young North East entrepreneurs: former NUFC youth team player Oliver Cowie (25); and, Aaron Knox (22) from North Shields.

Kocanuts.com offers a single site which provides interactive job seeking and recruiting, as well as professional and social link ups.

Job seekers can sell themselves by uploading images, videos and portfolios on to their “profile” CV, which also serves as a social networking page, allowing potential employers to see a detailed and honest candidate profile.

Employers can upload their own aptitude tests and also “pre-interview” candidates online, while jobseekers can get tips and chat online to new contacts already working in their chosen sphere.

Online careers advice will be available, as well as employees’ experiences working with different organisations up and down the country.

Oliver Cowie said: “With kocanuts.com, we’ve turned the traditional, one-dimensional “us” and “them” method of recruitment on its head by offering a more open, effective, efficient solution that not only saves money for people all round, but really does reflect the way we live and work today.”

Aaron Knox said: “Everyone we talk to is very excited about Kocanuts.com and all kinds of different people of all ages are already signing up like crazy. Nowhere in the UK will there be more of a comprehensive online and interactive service to both jobseekers, recruiters and networkers.”

Kocanuts.com are inviting people along to a special ‘mystery Christmas event’ taking place in the Newcastle Civic Centre Park on Saturday 20 December at 1pm. Christmas shoppers will be able to get free coffees from the Kocanuts Koffi stall near the Monument Mall entrance on Northumberland Street.
