Leading Newcastle Company makes a Chinese Connection

Managers at a North East creative agency have been sharing their expertise with a group of Chinese dignitaries who were visiting the region as part of a UK tour.

Different hosted the group of 25 public sector senior managers from Chongqing, China’s largest and most heavily populated city.

The delegates were in the UK to learn more about public sector best practice and visited events in cities including Edinburgh, Cardiff and London.

The visit to Newcastle was organised by the University of Northumbria and Different was chosen as a contact in the region thanks to its experience of working in the public sector.

Different’s creative team delivered a workshop to the Chinese delegates on working with large organisations such as the Central Office of Information (COI), One North East, Northumbria Police and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue.

Ben Quigley, managing director at Different, said: ‘The Chinese visit was an enjoyable and challenging experience for all of the team. Chongqing province in China is in the industrialised heart of China and is home to the world’s biggest city.

“The visitors were very interested in learning how we do things in the UK and how best to apply our practices to their business situations back in China. Presenting through a translator was an entirely new experience as unfortunately our Chinese language skills are limited but we were delighted to help out in some small way and introduce them to the Newcastle area.”
