Hairy Bikers back Cramlington café

Two of television’s top chefs have become the first official patrons of a new Northumberland café.

Hairy Bikers Si King and Dave Myers have pledged to support Cramlington’s Café Azure after being impressed by its charitable philosophy and eco-friendly design.

The café is the brain child of Azure Charitable Enterprises, which works to support disabled people across the North East, including providing training and work.

The Hairy Bikers, who are best known for their BBC2 cooking shows, were guests of honour at the café’s official opening in November and designed a special menu for the VIP dinner that followed.

“We very flattered to be invited to be patrons and very happy to do it,” said Si. “The charity is a great organisation which deserves praise and support because it puts people with disabilities into a meaningful role within the workplace.

“Long may our association continue.”

Peter Elliott OBE, Chief Executive of Azure Charitable Enterprises, is delighted that the pair have shown their support for the charity.

“Si and Dave were a huge hit at the Café’s opening,” he said. “They both really got behind our charity’s efforts to support disabled people from across the North East. I am overwhelmed that they have now agreed to act as patrons for us and look forward to inviting them back to Cramlington in the very near future.”
