Final countdown for 2009 ?Property Oscar' entries

With the deadline for entries now less than three weeks away (23 January), the RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) is announcing a final call for entries for the 2009 North East Renaissance Awards.

The awards aim to celebrate the best property projects in the region over what has been a particularly challenging 12 months for those involved in property and construction.

RICS Regional Board Chairman Michael Henning, a North East-based chartered surveyor with Summers Inman, said: “The 2009 Renaissance Awards provide a welcome opportunity to celebrate the great work that is continuing in our region despite the turbulent market conditions.

“The Awards always attract entries from talented property developers, civil engineers, planners, architects, constructors and, of course, surveyors who want to promote their high profile projects and clients and I’m sure this year will be no different.”

Last year’s winner of the coveted ‘Project of the Year’ title and also the Sustainability category was Northumbria University’s new city centre development in the heart of Newcastle - City Campus East.

Michael Henning added: “We consider projects of all shapes and sizes and the judges will be looking for excellence in design and execution. Two topics taken into consideration are value for money and sustainability - both of which are increasingly important given the current economic climate.

“The North East is bursting at the seams with creative and construction industry talent and I can’t wait to see the entries - and the very best that this region has to offer.”

Entries for the 2009 RICS North East Renaissance Awards will be open until 23 January. For an entry form and to book places at the Awards dinner, contact RICS North East Events Coordinator Sue Doberman on 0191 221 0359 or email sdoberman@rics.org.
