Fleet Street links for North East college
Media students from South Tyneside will have the chance to work with some of the top names in the magazine and newspaper industry thanks to a new partnership.
South Tyneside College has linked up with the Editorial Design Organisation to offer students on its media design course the chance to learn from senior staff at publications such as GQ, Gardeners’ World, Creative Review, the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail.
The partnership will see media students being mentored by some of the industry’s leading creative directors.
Phil West, lecturer on the media design course at South Tyneside College, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn from some of the top names in the media.
“We already have strong industry links with many of the world’s household names in magazines and newspapers and a great deal of our students go on to enjoy high flying careers with these publications.
“Now this partnership will bolster those existing links and hopefully will enable our students to forge invaluable business relationships, which will in turn help their future careers.”
