Norman helps North Tyneside fight the super bugs
An infection control company is celebrating a great start to the New Year having completed its work with North Tyneside Council in the battle against the superbugs.
Norman Rickard and Associates provided specific infection control training which involved improving confidence in the infection control culture and procedures in the recently re-established rehabilitation unit in North Tyneside.
The training provided by Norman offered the team at Dorset House - a resource centre offering respite, rehabilitation and day care services - an opportunity to learn within the environment in which they worked and supported their existing in-house training. Norman Rickard set up his infection control business - to help fight back against superbugs such as MRSA - with support from Northumbria University’s Enterprise Campus.
Anne Steele at Dorset House said: “Norman was able to work with a small group of staff from different backgrounds and encouraged them to share good practice and spot any weaknesses in current practice. This led to the group being able to identify gaps whilst working and learning in the same environment.
“It also supported the teambuilding process, which has helped the group immensely when putting their projects into practice.”
Norman said: “We use a “bottom-up” approach to provide staff with the tools to make permanent changes in the way they think about infection control issues, the micro-organisms that cause problems and the way they affect human beings.
“I pride myself in devising individual programmes, tailored to each different health care establishment to work around its different needs. This can be quite challenging but is the most efficient and effective way to help people to control infection.”
