Tynemet students receive Bafta award winning advice
A group of students from TyneMet College are being put through their design paces by Bafta award winning London agency, Taylor McKenzie. Production Director Kate Bowen will be overseeing a unique project with the students from TyneMet, providing industry experience for students looking to pursue a career in the graphic design industry.
Kate will be running a live brief with the HND and HNC Year 2 graphic design students. The project will give students at TyneMet insight into how a real design brief is managed by a graphic design agency from concepts through to final delivery, to meet the demands of a specific project.
Taylor McKenzie made their name in 2007 after winning a Welsh Bafta for their work on the title sequences for the film “Summer Scars”.
Kate will be supporting the students through each stage of the brief, seeing it through to its conclusion in May of this year.
Paul Harvey, Programme Leader for HND/HNC Graphic Design at TyneMet said: “At TyneMet, we are keen to ensure that students are given the opportunity to work and interact with professionals relevant to their course of study. Many of our vocational courses are in fact taught by lecturers with direct industry experience, providing a more enriched learning experience for our students.
“In the case of our graphic design students, we were especially keen to work with Kate to give our students insight into how their studies can translate into a professional working environment. More importantly, the project allows our students to work with a top graphic designer on a live brief to experience how their technical expertise and creative ideas will translate into quality delivery. I’d like to thank Kate for her involvement in this project and continued support for the students - we look forward to seeing the results.”
