Small businesses called to fundraise

Small businesses are being encouraged to support the Comic Relief campaign as the charity’s main sponsors for 2009 are announced.

A fundraising pack aimed at small enterprises has been developed by BT, which has been confirmed as title sponsor of a Comic Relief celebrity expedition to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, to encourage businesses to raise funds.

The fundraising pack will suggest the bst courses of action for businesses who want to be involved in the fundraising and is offering a range of prizes to the businesses that raise the most funds

Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business, said: “Fundraising is a great opportunity to motivate staff, increase your brand presence with customers and clients, raise the company profile within the local community and show support to a worthwhile cause.”

The BT Red Nose Climb will see celebrities from Gary Barlow, Chris Moyles, Cheryl Cole and Ronan Keating to Denise Van Outen scale the highest mountain in Africa. The climb will be filmed in an hour-long documentary which will be show on BBC One during the week leading up to March 13, Red Nose Day 2009.

Murphy continued: “Small businesses not only make a vital contribution to the UK economy but are often the first to put their support behind fundraising.”
