North East energy urged to showcase their industry
An event designed to promote the energy industry to current school students is coming to the Metro Radio Arena, Newcastle on 17 and 18 March and the organisers still need more firms to help showcase the region’s energy sector.
“Energise your Future”, sponsored by OPITO (the Oil & Gas Academy) and firms from Subsea North East, follows on from events in Aberdeen and Norwich and aims to showcase the oil, gas and energy sectors in the North East of England as industries that, despite the current downturn, offer long term career opportunities for school students from the region.
It is hoped that the event will encourage pupils to take maths, science and technology options at GCSE and over 1,000 school students are already signed up for the event.
Neil Kirkbride, Group Managing Director of British Engines and Chairman of NOF Energy, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the range of opportunities the energy sector offers to our future workforce and I would encourage firms to participate.”
Organisations can exhibit free of charge. To sign up for the event, email diane.johnston@opito.com.
