Council preps for Christmas ten months early
Gateshead Council has already erected their first Christmas tree of the year.
A fully decorated Christmas tree has been put up at Fewster Square, Leam Lane at the launch of an information campaign about safe and easy ways to save money for Christmas.
While many people believe that putting a Christmas tree on display in any month outside December is too early, Gateshead Council wants people to start thinking about the financial implications of Christmas this year as early as possible.
If this early Christmas tree is effective in helping people plan for the future during the recession, then we’re relax our usual Grinch-like attitude to this kind of thing. If, on the other hand, it doesn’t work… Gateshead Council will be hearing from us.
