News anchor to give public lecture
Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow is to deliver a public lecture at Northumbria University later this month.
Mr Snow, the main presenter of Channel 4 News for nearly 20 years, will use his lecture to discuss how a rapidly changing world and the range of new technologies available impacts on the way television reports the news to their audiences.
He said: “We are living in turbulent times nationally and globally. The development of technology has dramatically changed the way we report news and how it is produced, broadcast and accessed on a daily basis.”
During his visit to the University, Jon will also give a masterclass to some 30 journalism students.
Mark Little, Head of Media and Communication at Northumbria, said: “This is an incredibly valuable opportunity for our students to learn more about their subject from one of the most experienced and influential people in the field.
“Jon is an inspirational figure and represents all of the positive values we want to instil in our students. I’m sure the lessons they learn from him will be hugely encouraging and will no doubt stand them in good stead when they come to find jobs in this competitive market.’’
The lecture will be held on Friday 27 February at 6pm in Lecture Theatre 1 in the School of Law/Newcastle Business School Building, City Campus East and will be followed by light refreshments.
Places are free but seating is limited. If you would like to attend, contact pr.events@northumbria.ac.uk to reserve a place before Monday 23 February.
