Sunderland businesses head East
Its economy may be slowing down, but firms on Wearside are being urged to sign up for a trade trip to China to see first-hand what business opportunities are on offer.
The visit takes place from 15-26 May but time is running out to register interest.
Sunderland City Council, UK Trade and Investments and One North East are behind the idea aimed at fostering links between this region and China.
Council leader Paul Watson said: “The scope for business is huge. It’s one of the biggest and fastest growing markets in the world - still around 10% per year and worth billions.”
The trip is to the regional capitals of Harbin and Nanjing, which is second only to Shanghai as a commercial centre in East China. It has a strong automotive industry as well as petrochemicals, electronics, software, finance and retail.
