Subway growth sparks a search for new franchisees

Sandwich chain Subway is searching for new franchisees in the North East following the announcement of growth plans in the region.

The number of Subway outlets is set to rise from 60 to just over 100 over the next two years creating around 300 jobs across the region.

“At present we have 60 outlets throughout the North East,” said Josh Thompson, development agent for Subway in the Tyne Tees region. “Growth for this area is planned at 30%, which means another 40 stores over the next two years, creating fantastic opportunities for the right people to become part of the world‚s fastest growing franchise

“We’re looking for enthusiastic, motivated, entrepreneurial people to join our winning team in the region,” said Josh, who also runs a number of Subway outlets including the newly-refurbished store in Jesmond.

“Subway has been ranked the number one franchise opportunity by Entrepreneur Magazine 15 times in the past 20 years and I know from experience what a great opportunity this is.”

As part of its search, Subway’s North East office is holding two free seminars for prospective franchisees to come along and find out more.

Josh Thompson said: “The seminars are a great way to find out how it all works. We look at everything from how the franchise system works financially to product details and brand image. There’s also the opportunity to hear stories from, and talk to, franchisees already operating in the region. The chance to run your own business under the umbrella of the one of the world’s leading brands is definitely one not to be missed.”
