Energy sector studied in Tees Valley

A new study is set to examine the state of Tees Valley’s energy industry.

NOF Energy, the business development organisation of the oil, gas and energy sectors, is conducting the research on behalf of Tees Valley Regeneration.

It has been commissioned to report on the strengths of the area’s supply chain and gather the views of key businesses.

NOF Energy is undertaking a series of face to face interviews with Tees Valley businesses from the sector to garner opinion on the future of the sector, including the challenges ahead in the current economic climate.

An online survey has also been commissioned, which can be accessed through www.nofenergy.co.uk and www.teesvalleyregeneration.co.uk. Companies in the oil and gas sector are encouraged to log on and help create an information database to help map out the industry in Tees Valley.

Joanne Leng, Director of Business Development for NOF Energy, said: “This is a very important study for the Tees Valley as it will shine a light on the successful oil and gas supply chain businesses operating out of the area.

“The research will allow Tees Valley Regeneration to better evaluate the area’s impact on the industry and promote the very important role it has to play in supporting new developments in oil, gas and renewables.”

Neil Kenley, Strategic Investment and Marketing Director at Tees Valley Regeneration, added: “We already know that the North Sea is the UK’s premier oil and gas field which gives this area an enviable track record in the sector with excellent infrastructure and highly skilled workforce.

“What we want to discover from this study is the strengths of the four growing sub-sectors; subsea technologies, offshore fabrication, design engineering and support services. We hope to analyse how Tees Valley compares to other oil and gas conurbations across Europe and the UK and what future developments could create new jobs and further investment.”
