Icing on the cake for Wansbeck's million mark
Businesses in Wansbeck have now received one million pounds of funding through their Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI), Go Wansbeck.
To mark the one million pound milestone, Ruby Rose Cupcakes - one of more than a hundred new companies that have received funding - baked special Go Wansbeck cakes.
Go Wansbeck programme delivery officer Karen Davies said: “Having access to financial support is key to starting or growing a business. We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone and celebrating with Ruby Rose really is the icing on the cake.”
Wansbeck MP Denis Murphy said: “Go Wansbeck’s work is more important than ever. Not only does it help new businesses it also performs a vital service for firms already up and running. It’s not just about the money. Go Wansbeck’s business coaches do a fantastic job helping people make the most of opportunities and avoid pitfalls.”
Ashington-based Ruby Rose Cupcakes is typical of the sort of business Go Wansbeck has helped get off the ground. Like many of the other new Wansbeck entrepreneurs, Rachelle Atchison has been able to turn a talent and interest into a business.
Rachelle said: “I have no regrets at all. This is very different to my previous work, but far more enjoyable. You are obviously a bit nervous starting your own business, but Go Wansbeck has been very helpful.”
