Talk to look Beyond the Void
People in the North East are being given the chance to hear from a man who has faced real life and death decisions.
Mountaineering expert Simon Yates is one of the world’s most accomplished mountaineers, perhaps best known for the harsh decision he faced in 1985 during his descent of Peru’s Siula Grande with climbing partner Joe Simpson. Believing Joe to be dead following a severe fall, Simon had to make the choice to cut the rope that joined them in order to save his own life - a story retold in Joe’s book and the BAFTA award-winning film, Touching the Void.
Simon is currently touring the country with his ‘Beyond the Void’ show, presented by adventure-based speakers specialists, Speakers from the Edge, and will appear at the Lamplight Arts Centre in Stanley on Friday 6 March. The show offers guests the opportunity to join him as he recounts the highs and lows of life as a mountaineer in an ‘audience with…’ style theatre show.
For more information about the show, visit www.speakersfromtheedge.com/tours or www.leisureworksonline.co.uk. Tickets cost £13 full and £11 concession.
