IP assistance for North East creatives
A new project has been launched aiming to assist creative industries in in the North East to profit from their Intellectual Property.
The project is funded by One North East, and hopes to reach as many creative businesses as possible within the region.
Own-it has been a highly successful organisation in the London area since its formation in 2004. The service provides free advice, template contracts, and resources to help with intellectual property support for creative businesses. Membership is free, and members can attend regional events, download podcasts of previous events, and book free one-to-one legal advice sessions with lawyers.
It is anticipated that there will be at least two events each month in the North and the South of the region to create awareness of not just IP, but the importance of the creative industries in general, making money from Intellectual Property, and highlighting the success of the creative industries in the region.
Intellectual Property and Patent Lawyers from the North East will be speaking at the events, including Alex Shiel’s team from Ward Hadaway, Matthew Rippon’s team from BHP, Bob Elliott of Crutes, plus the Patents Advice service at the newly refurbished Central Library in Newcastle.
Online registration and news of forthcoming events and clinics is free from www.own-it.org.
