North East talent gets fizzing
A new initiative designed to get the North East business community buzzing had a successful launch last week in Newcastle.
The ThursdayFizz event was created by Newcastle entrepreneurs Matt Moran and Stuart Howard, and attracted over 200 people to the first event at The Living Room in Newcastle.
Matt, Head of Marketing at Quick.tv and founder of 58 management, said: “As many businesses are feeling the effects of the challenging economic climate, there is no better time to support one another and share ideas and inspiration.
“With attendees including businesses in Teesside, London and the heart of Newcastle and Gateshead, it proves there is real energy and optimism out there amongst people wanting to celebrate the positives and pull together during this tough time to get business booming again.”
ThursdayFizz is a spin out project from Matt’s 58 venture, a new apprenticeship concept working towards developing the next generation of entrepreneurial talent in the North East.
The event was heavily promoted through the Twitter social networking tool, of which Matt and Stuart are both keen users.
Stuart Howard of Orangepanda said: “We’ve seen the power of online social networking really taking off recently - tapping into this has enabled us to reach a diverse and rich pool of talent, both within and importantly outside, of the region.
“We’re very good at taking pride in what our region has to offer, but this event focuses one of our best assets when it comes to business and takes pride in our people. It’s amazing what can happen when a room full of creative, talented minds come together.”
