Merger creates green superfirm
Gatehead-based green retailer Ethicalsuperstore.com has merged with a similarly eco-conscious firm from the south of England.
Natural Collection hails from Bath, and was set up ten years ago to offer natural and organic products through its online store and catalogue.
The combined company is projecting sales in the region of £8 million for 2009/10. The business will continue trading under both names using both online and mail order catalogue to serve its customers.
Andy Redfern, the CEO of the merged business, said: “Joining forces will enable both companies to build for an exciting future and to steer a good path through the challenging retail environment.”
Natural Collection has been selling ethical products since the end of the nineties, making the company one of the longest-established names in the marketplace, as well as a three-time winner of The Observer’s Ethical Awards.
Joanne Spector, co-founder of Natural Collection added: “Our new partnership creates great energy as we join together in our drive to promote fair trade and ecological products, which is especially important during a time when producers need the most support.”
Vic Morgan, co-founder of the EthicalSuperstore.com, said: “‘Hippy’ has evolved into ‘hip’ as ethical products now range from eco-gadgets to fair trade gourmet coffees. Despite adverse economic climate this team has no intention of being held back. Together we are stronger.”
