Search launched for butty with B Factor
It sounded like a potential April Fool at the time, but it turns out that the search for the North East’s best bacon butty is in fact true.
The B Factor is being run as part of the EAT! NewcastleGateshead 2009 festival, and people from across the region are being given the opportunity to vote on their favourite bacon sandwich.
Nominations are invited for any individual, restaurant, café or takeaway in the region. As the EAT festival aims to celebrate regional produce, bonus points will be given to those who use locally sourced ingredients.
Nominations can be made by logging on to www.NewcastleGateshead.com/EAT from 1 to 21 April. They will need to provide the contact details and address of the nominee and explain the reasons why they have the B Factor in 25 words or less.
Simon Preston, festival director for EAT!, said: “The bacon butty is a British institution; we love them, we talk about them, we argue over them - and have for generations! For some people they’re the ultimate happy food. So we want local people to shout about which butty they think has the B Factor, and on May 1st we’ll announce the Supreme Champion for 2009. Although I’m sure no-one will agree!”
