Tanfield reveals US site
The Wearside-based Tanfield Group has unveiled the location of its new Stateside operation.
SEV U.S. Corp is a privately held company, owned by American investors and the Washington-based Tanfield. The company confirmed it is to start assembling all-electric zero-emission commercial vehicles at a new plant in Kansas City.
The move will help to safeguard jobs on Wearside, with all vehicle design and development taking place at Tanfield’s Vigo Centre Headquarters and the company receiving a royalty on every vehicle sold.
SEV U.S. Corp will invest an initial $10million in developing the new plant, which will occupy 80,000sqft with room to expand.
Through Tanfield, the firm is working with Ford to produce an electric version of the Ford Transit Connect, scheduled to enter production next year.
