Top award for Ashington business
A Northumberland business is celebrating after being awarded an accolade in recognition of its export performance.
Ashington-based Torque Tension Systems (TTS) has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the category of International Trade, thanks to a 130% increase in overseas sales, mainly to the Far East, USA and European markets.
The company, which began trading in 1998, designs and supplies hydraulic bolt working equipment for heavy industrial engineering applications, in particular the oil and gas industry, power generation and wind energy schemes. As well as a successful selling arm, the company also provides a rental service which has also seen an upturn in business.
The growth in business has allowed the company to expand by opening subsidiaries in Australia and Malaysia. Despite this international presence, Managing Director Gerald Vineberg and his team have resisted taking the manufacturing process abroad, instead using engineering firms in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Yorkshire.
Mr Vineberg said: “We are all honoured that TTS has received the Royal seal of approval in recognition of our substantial growth overseas. We have an excellent team of people working for us and they have all contributed to our success. I am very proud of everyone at TTS.”
During the year, TTS will benefit from a visit to their premises by a representative of The Queen and be invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace in the summer.
