Contracts win help drilling company expansion
The economic downturn is not having much impact on one Seaham-based company, which is still continuing to grow.
Drilling company Drilcorp Ltd has secured contracts for the London Underground and Coal Mine Gas Recovery worth £1,500,000, resulting in the safeguarding of jobs and the recruitment of additional staff.
Employing 32 staff, Drilcorp’s main area of work is drilling for water and has many blue chip companies as clients throughout the UK. The company is also heavily involved in the renewables market and the provision of ground source heating and cooling. Many projects have been completed in London for clients such as The Royal Festival Hall, The London School of Economics and Kew Gardens.
“Despite the current economic downturn we have experienced a very successful year,” said Dave Gowans, Drilcorp Chief Executive. “The two recent contracts we have won relating to the burgeoning renewable industry are worth over £1,500,000.”
Mr Gowans, who has drilled for minerals from gold to diamonds across the globe, continued: “We have recently invested £800,000 in new drilling equipment and currently have a £2m order book. Within five years I can see us hitting a £10m turnover figure and be employing 45 staff.”
