Pair make a great catch with angling centre
Two local entrepreneurs have caught themselves a great new career with the launch of their brand new business, Willington Angling Centre.
Neil Robinson, 20, and Oakley Coveney, 19, set up the angling centre in Willington, County Durham after they were both recently made redundant.
The pair, both from Willington, set up their business this month with the support of Be Enterprising, County Durham’s Local Enterprise Growth Initiative (LEGI).
Oakley said: “We will be opening to the public today and we are really looking forward to getting open, up and running.”
Willington Angling Centre will be selling fishing tackle, bait, various fishing equipment and live cold water fish, such as goldfish.
Neil said: “Our grant from Be Enterprising helped us cover our start up costs - like a deposit to secure the property, insurance and we also used it to buy stock.”
Prior to setting up the shop the duo were both in the army. The pair have been long time friends and decided to take the plunge and go into business together.
Michael Smith, their Be Enterprising coach, said: “They have both worked with me for about five months to date, and initially it was just an idea they had both had to try and divert away from the benefit system after being made redundant.
“It has been a real privilege to work with Neil and Oakley, they are two really nice young guys and as two local lads they are an inspiration and credit to the community.”
