North East chefs battle it out
The region’s chefs will soon have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills over two days of competitions, which include coveted titles such as ‘The North East England Chef of the Year 2009’. The North East Culinary and Trade Association (NECTA) is hosting its annual culinary competition at Gosforth Park Race Course on 19 and 20 May.
On day one, colleges from across the North East of England will showcase their talents through a variety of dishes and techniques. Day two will see chefs from across the North East battle it out for the titled of North East Chef of the Year 2009, where entrants will have to prepare four covers of a three course menu.
The two-day event is open to the public as well as industry professionals. It aims to provide chefs with an excellent opportunity to present their skills and talents in a professional but friendly environment and to exchange ideas and knowledge.
