MS charity calls for North East help

An event in Gateshead next month plans to bring together people from all over the country affected by MS, and the organisers are looking for help from the business community.

MS Life NewcastleGateshead, an event organised by the MS Society, will feature research presentations from leading neurologists and experts explaining current areas of research, recent developments and future plans.

MS Life will begin in The Sage Gateshead on 12 June with a Fashion Show in which all the models are affected by MS in one way or another, and the conference itself takes place over 13 and 14 June.

The aim of MS Life is to create an environment for people with the condition, as well as their families and carers, to share experiences with others and learn methods of coping with the impact MS can have in an informal and non-medical setting.

The MS Society wants local businesses to get involved with the fundraising side of the event, which includes a ‘Wheel and Walk’ event around the Newcastle Quayside and Gateshead Quays. Businesses are also being invited to attend the ‘My Style’ fashion show on Friday 12 June, where models from across the MS community will sport the latest fashions from House of Fraser.

Chris Bray, Event Director at the MS Society, said: “The region has already played a key part in making MS Life a success. With a huge amount of delegates signed up the atmosphere is already building. Running alongside the event we have Wheel and Walk, our flagship fundraising event which is proving to be a true favourite with attendees and businesses in the area. We’re now looking to attract as many corporate teams as possible to achieve our main event target - to increase the awareness of MS and the Society.”

Corporate sponsorship packages are also still available for each event. For more information please contact the MS Life Conference Office on 0191 241 4523 or email info@ms-life.org.uk.
