Sunderland Uni celebrates best business plans
A mobile bike hire firm and an on-campus gaming company were among the winners of the this year’s University of Sunderland business planning competition.
The 2009 Blueprint Awards, sponsored by Sunderland City Council, celebrate the talent and creativity of the university’s students, graduates and staff.
The overall winner of the Blueprint Business Award was Faculty of Business and Law graduate Chris Bushell, for Bike Hire UK, a company which allows people to hire bikes via their mobile.
The overall runner-up Award went to Helmut Okike for Campus Games. Campus Games provide a fully managed on-site gaming experience for students.
Vince Robson, Business Development Manager for the University, said: “We have run the competition for five years now and it keeps getting bigger, better and more popular. It’s very prestigious.
“As well as the big cheque the winners get a lot of great publicity as a result of being involved in the Blueprint competition.”
Chris and Helmut will represent the University of Sunderland at the Blueprint Regional Grand Final, held at the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead, in October. At the Final they will compete against their peers from the other Universities in the North East.
