Fairtrade lender gives ethical events green light
The region’s only fair trade lender has joined forces with an online ethical magazine to host a string of North East events this summer.
Shared Interest has come on board with daisygreenmagazine.co.uk with the aim of attracting a younger audience to ethical investments. PR Manager Stina Dodds spotted the magazine when it went live last year and approached founder Nicola Alexander to discuss partnership opportunities. Since then, links between the two organisations have grown and Shared Interest will work together for a series of daisygreenmagazine.co.uk events taking place in the region, starting with the ‘Ultimate Summer Clothes Swap’ at As you Like it in Jesmond on Thursday 25 June.
Daisygreenmagazine.co.uk founder Nicola Alexander said: “Since its launch back in October 2007, we have increased our online presence and appeal, growing from just 2000 visits to over 12,500 visits in May this year. We don’t just cater for the ladies though, there is plenty of advice on male style as well as an entire section on gardening with an accompanying blog called Mr Daisy Digs.
“In order to spread the ethical message, we have a whole host of events planned for this year which allows us to meet our regular readers as well as introduce the magazine to new audiences. These will be held throughout the country and include our London launch, along with the launch of the first ever ethical bra.
Stina added: “As our investors’ money is lent out time and time again in the developing world, the events are an opportunity for us to encourage people to think about the good work an amount as small as £25 could be doing and who could be borrowing it next.
“The fact that both organisations share a commitment to greener, more ethical lifestyle choices definitely makes us the perfect match when it comes to working together.”
