Nexus invites local firms to £300m opportunity
Engineering, construction and technology firms are being invited to attend an event next month about the new Metro modernisation programme.
Nexus is inviting North East companies to find out more about its £300m Metro: All Change developments.
Nexus intends to let a series of framework contracts including station refurbishment, permanent way and overhead line renewal, signalling and communications, capital maintenance of structures, escalator and lift replacement and depot equipment.
Bernard Garner, Director General of Nexus, said: “Metro: All Change is not only vital to the future economic and social life of the region, it will create and secure hundreds of jobs.
“We are attracting more than £300 million of inward investment to North East England through the Metro: All Change programme and we want as many firms as possible to take the opportunities this presents.
“Railway engineering lies at the core of Metro: All Change but there will also be investment in stations, structures and technology which will require a wide range of skills and expertise from our contractors.”
The event takes place from 1-5pm on 9 July at St James’ Park, Newcastle. For more information contact Lynne Robinson at Nexus on 0191 203 3251 or Lynne.richardson@nexus.org.uk no later than Friday 3 July.
