Angel eyes on North East technology firms

A networking organisation is holding a ‘Meet the Investor’ event to bring the North East’s young technology companies to the attention of three influential business angels.

The CONNECT North East event, on Tuesday 28 July, will see the angels outline what they’re looking for before three companies have the chance to pitch to them in private.

Caroline Theobald, managing director of Bridge Club Ltd, which is delivering the CONNECT North East project, said: “Technology firms are telling us they want to meet new investors and markets so this event is designed to do just that.

“The business angels are experts in the early stage investment field and will be able to outline exactly what they’re looking for. Three companies will also have the chance to showcase some of their brilliant ideas in private with them.”

John White, founding director of London-based E-Synergy, Peter Hiscocks, head of innovation management at the Judge Business School, and Jonathan Gold, founder of Newcastle-based Finance Tree are the three angels taking part in the event.

The event will be held at The Guildhall in Newcastle. It follows CONNECT North East’s investment conference in April which attracted venture capitalists, Government departments and private and public sector delegates from across the country.

CONNECT North East will be hosting a series of events over the coming months, designed to attract more investors to the region and introduce talented firms to new markets.
