Haines Watts aims to give SMEs a voice

A North East accountancy firm is calling on businesses across the North East to support its campaign to encourage the Government to bring in realistic measures to help small-medium businesses expand and grow.

Haines Watts’ online petition has already gained support from businesses in the region. It aims to encourage the Government to listen to their needs in the current economic climate.

Haines Watts wants Ten Downing Street to review the policies it creates to ensure they are helping businesses grow.

Chris Scott, managing partner at Haines Watts North East said: “This petition aims to give SMEs one voice on wider Government issues. Although we won’t see changes overnight, we hope this petition will drive supporters over the coming months and fight for the rights of SMEs, ultimately making the Government take notice of this important business sector.”

Haines Watts hopes that the petition will encourage the Government to simplify the tax system, give businesses greater access to funds and trade credit, give the companies ability to opt out of new regulations and to incentivise them to invest in business.

Chris Scott said: “There are many benefits to the petition and not just for SMEs. If the Government can encourage businesses to grow and invest, then they will start to employ further members of staff helping to boost the economy in these difficult times.”
