Energy group makes recession gains
A North East member organisation which aims to develop business opportunities for the oil, gas, and energy sectors has seen a 20% growth in membership in 2009.
More than 70 new members have joined Durham-based NOF Energy since the start of the year, with total membership now comprising 330 companies from across the UK.
Among the new members are Bibby Offshore, JDR Cables, Hertel UK, Total Safety Services Ltd and Northern Precision Engineering Ltd.
In the past five years, NOF Energy has assisted members in securing more than £50million of new business and led over 40 market visits to countries such as Libya, Houston, South Korea and Norway.
Acting as a gateway to the UK supply chain, NOF Energy is able to deliver new business opportunities and establish important relationships with global companies looking to benefit from the expertise and innovation of British companies.
George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy, said: “NOF Energy has seen an increase in membership recently because businesses are looking at every opportunity as the energy sector grows and diversifies to get themselves in front of potential customers and seek new business leads.
“The state of the economy is also concentrating the minds of the supply chain and utilising NOF Energy’s business development services is playing a key role in providing support and opportunities.
“The majority of supply chain businesses have experienced tough times in the past and know what they have to do to prepare themselves for the arrival of an upturn.
“Therefore, during 2009 and 2010 it is vital that companies in the supply chain undertake activities that will strengthen their businesses so that, as the global economy recovers from recession, they are well-placed to capitalise on the opportunities.”
