Attenborough honoured by meat eating plant
Sir David Attenborough, nature documentary extraordinaire and all round British gem, has had a meat eating plant named after him.
The new species of pitcher plant, found on the summit of one mountain in Palawan, Philippines, is so big it can catch rats.
The plant was discovered by botanists Alastair Robson, Stewart McPherson, Volker Heinrich and Andreas Fleischmann.
The plant has been named Nepenthes attenboroughii to honour the natural history expert.
