British chef curries favour at festival

A chef from Tyne & Wear is jetting out to Bangladesh to show off his curry cooking skills.

He will be taking his British curry dishes to Bangladesh for the 6th International British Fusion Food Festival to be held at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel.

Ali Hussain, Executive Chef for Café Bangla in East Boldon, will be taking his British curry dishes to the 6th International British Fusion Food Festival to be held at Dhaka Sheraton Hotel.

Ali has already tasted success in other curry chef competitions, and is now among the four British ‘Super Curry Chefs’ selected for this festival.

The chefs are required to design dishes that combine the tastes of British and Asian cookery, and have come up with dishes such as Lamb Chops with Plum and Coriander Sauce and a Hyderabadi Shepherd’s Pie.

Syed Belal Ahmed, Festival Director, said: “Good food can unite people, and in that regard the Britain and Bangladesh are no exception. This is a great way to celebrate the friendship of Britain and Bangladesh.

“Our aim is to promote and support Bangladeshi Restaurants, chefs, food producers and suppliers by providing an important and different platform for them to exhibit, create and perform. By organising this festival we strive for greater recognition of the British Asian chefs.”
