Eaga benefits from green knowledge
Newcastle-based green support services provider Eaga has seen a profit gain of 49% as UK consumers become more environmentally aware.
The company’s profits increased from £38.4m to £47.5m over the last 12 months, and has also had its contract renewed to continue delivery of the government’s Warm Front scheme.
Warm Front’s aim is to eradicate fuel poverty, and Eaga has now had its contract extended to March 2011, with provision for a further two-year extension beyond that point.
Eaga also operates the BBC’s digital switchover program, and is looking to perform more services for governments and utilities trying to cut costs in the recession.
As green issues become more prominent the firm said it was well placed to take advantage of a growing market.
Ross Armstrong, director of corporate and government affairs, said: “This is not a two to five-year agenda, it is a 20 to 50-year agenda moving to a low carbon economy.”
Chairman Charles Berry said: “The results demonstrate the ability to deliver continued strong growth, despite difficult conditions.”
