New energy monitoring sytem could reduce carbon footprint

A Jarrow-based company has launched a unique energy monitor, which is said to save businesses up to 27% of their energy bills.

EMU systems limited has produced EDD:E, the Electronic Display of Information and Energy, which can show bill payers exactly where energy is going, and where savings could be made.

Charlie Wainwright, EMU Systems’ commercial director, said: “Energy costs have always been a significant overhead and are a major factor in the effective management of any business. On top of this is the issue of climate change which is a particularly hot topic at the moment - businesses cannot ignore their environmental responsibilities.

“EDD:E is unlike any other meter on the market and can help businesses reduce their carbon footprint and treat energy overheads as a manageable cost for the first time.”

The system can deliver web-based statistics on exactly what costs the most amount of money, and because of the way the system is installed the stats can show what area, whether it be down to floor, room, lights or air conditioning, real time data can be viewed at any time at ask-eddie.com.

Managing director Geoff Thompson said: “To date the product has been installed in a number of different business and as a consequence of EDD:E some people have seen savings of up to 27%

“But the average saving is between 7-12%, and so it is a very good investment because the reduction of bills means the product will pay for itself within 12 months.”
