Firms urged to offer internships
Small companies can boost their business be offering young people internships, according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
The CIPD have suggested that rather than take on graduates small firm owners would be better off offering work placement internships to they can see how individuals respond to different work place challenges and ensure they do not hire someone that is not suitable.
Jobseekers themselves can also benefit from undergoing work placements, especially given that 72% of firms cite a lack of experience as being the major barrier to hiring.
