Innovation experts share their knowledge
Some of the region’s leading business innovation experts have allowed twenty North East entrepreneurs expand their businesses.
Focusing on commercialisation, intellectual property and team motivation, the Newcastle Science City workshop spoke to a wide range of businesses to help them realise their potential.
One of those at the workshop was entrepreneur Mark Bedworth of Seven Delta, based in Newcastle.
Mark and his business partners have launched six start-up companies in the past six years including an eye-tracking device for websites, an internal combustion engine and a product to help sufferers of dementia.
He said: “As a region we’ve had more than our fair share of economic problems through the decades, but we always seem to find a way to bounce back.
“There’s so much support now for inventors and entrepreneurs. This workshop was a gem. We’ve already been in touch with the facilitators and delegates to make sure we convert the advice into genuine business opportunities.”
The workshop featured the critical stages of commercialisation of innovative ideas and technologies and provided networking opportunities with like-minded business entrepreneurs.
According to Estelle Chatard, of Newcastle Science City, this has inspired participants to put together action plans to grow their businesses.
She said: “We were delighted with the event, which was engaging, thought provoking and entertaining.
“The mix of expert talks, case studies and exercises made the experience memorable with implementable benefits.”
