Hunt begins for Biz Idol
Wannabe business owners are being encouraged to enter a competition which could see their business dream become a reality.
The Biz Idol competition enables budding entrepreneurs to turn their idea into a start-up business by providing them with a prize package of cash, professional services and business support that is second to none.
Organised by South Tyneside Mean Business, individuals are invited to complete an initial application form with 10 being invited to attend a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style pitch to a panel of South Tyneside’s leading business lights.
The Biz Idol of 2009 will receive a prize package donated by businesses from the region which includes £2,000 from South Tyneside Council; virtual office space and business support courtesy of TEDCO; and legal advice from Dickinson Dees.
Councillor Michael Clare, South Tyneside Council’s Lead Member Jobs, Enterprise and Regeneration, said: “Last year’s Biz Idol was a huge success, we were inundated with entries. I’m delighted we are able to run it again this year and would encourage anyone who thinks their big idea could be a business winner to apply.
“Thanks to our generous sponsors the winner’s prize is exceptional and of course we’ll make sure the winner and all of our applicants continue to receive business advice and support whenever they need it.”
