Tees Valley companies given awards opportunity
A call has gone out to environmental companies in the Tees Valley to sign up to an awards scheme aimed at recognising their green efforts.
As part of the search for the region’s most successful new businesses, the organisers of the Best New Business Awards hope more green companies will enter.
The closing date for the competition is October 19, and a last push is being made for entries particularly in the environmental, retail, marketing and manufacturing categories.
Colin Brown, orgnaiser of the awards, said: “With green technology at the forefront of the news agenda, supporting new and innovative environmental businesses is essential for the region.
“The Tees Valley is already becoming known as a hub for this type of business which is great, as it boosts the region’s economy and brings national and global recognition to the area.”
Last year’s winner of the Environmental Award was Darlington-based company Natural Warmth. The company specialises in installing environmentally friendly home heating and hot water systems.
Steve Heslop, managing director, said: “Winning the Best New Business Environmental Award was a terrific achievement for us, when we were still in our first year.
“Since winning the award, we have completed more than 30 installations across the region and have exceeded budget expectations with a turnover of £750,000. With orders coming in from all over the North of England including Leeds, Harrogate and Catterick, we are convinced that the ‘green’ message is getting through – certainly in our part of the world.”
