Nuclear specialist comes to NE

One of the world’s largest nuclear companies is coming to the North East to help the local supply chain learn about potential opportunities in the nuclear sector.

Westinghouse, which has global businesses in the design, construction, fuelling and servicing of nuclear reactors, will be taking a lead role in NOF Energy’s networking event, which is sponsored by Aberdeen-based Global Supply Chain Solutions, at The Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield on 3 November.

Adrian Bull, Head of Stakeholder Relations for Westinghouse UK, will outline the status of the nuclear industry in the UK including project timescales and supply chain opportunities.

Adrian Bull said: “In terms of nuclear new build there are huge opportunities for North East companies within the energy supply chain. Now is the time to find out from organisations like Westinghouse what will be required of them when the nuclear programme gains momentum. The timescale is still long at the moment, but it is important for these companies to prepare.

“There are a lot of well-established engineering companies, particularly in the North East, which may well have something to offer the nuclear sector in the UK and internationally. In the lead up to the start of a nuclear build programme these companies should fill gaps in their businesses with skills and accreditations to make them more attractive to operators.”
