Firms told to "let tech do the talking"

A North East technology specialist has said businesses should let their IT systems do the talking during the recession.

Justin Short, Director of Newcastle-based Rocket Solutions, has said he is surprised at how much time companies waste by not making their processes more efficient to ride out the economic downturn.

He said: “It’s incredible how many hours are being lost as people cling to the old way of doing things, relying on paper-based processes or excel forms that get printed and sit on desks.

“From health and safety procedures to sharing documents or filling in forms, there is always room for improvement.”

Although economists are suggesting that financial green shoots may be appearing, Justin Short has warned many small businesses are yet to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Solutions such as Sharepoint and Microsoft Business Intelligence, are just some of the methods Mr. Short believes businesses should invest in so that they can focus their attention on the “bigger picture” when making difficult choices.

He added: “With so little credit available, and with so much focus on bottom-line results, the relevance of making all systems as efficient as possible has never been greater.

“These can greatly reduce the burden of administrative and filing tasks. The initial outlay associated with these solutions is rendered by the money saved in the long run.”
