Entrepreneurs share secret to success

To celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week this week, some of the region’s most innovative entrepreneurs spoke for the first time on how they have achieved international success on a shoestring budget.

‘The Secret’ workshop, held on Monday, saw Claire Mitchell from Aston Mitchell talk about how her award winning home-based makeup company in Bowes that works with Barack Obama’s makeup artist has managed to conquer international markets.

The event, sponsored by Enterprise UK, UK Trade and Investment and Regional Language Network North East, also included demonstrations and films showing a snapshot of the average day of a small business juggling the demands of an international audience.

Enterprise UK head of region Louise Kempton said: “From backstreet bedrooms to remote villages in the Pennines, North East entrepreneurs are effectively creating global audiences by using their creativity, ingenuity and passion.

“Events such as ‘The Secret’ help inspire people to take control through being entrepreneurial and collectively will have a long term positive impact on people in the North East. It’s our enterprising people that will help drive economic recovery. Through Global Entrepreneurship Week and the thousands of activities across the UK we aim to connect these fresh-thinkers to like-minded people both at home and abroad.”
